Structure of WVUSU

The General Assembly

The General Assembly is the entire body of WVUSU membership. Every member of the union is a member of the General Assembly.

Membership to the General Assembly, and therefore the union, is granted to individuals who are members of one of the union's constituent member organizations (CMOs). If someone is not already a member of a CMO, they can apply for membership to the Organization of Unaffiliated Students (OUS), a CMO created specifically to make membership accessible to students on an individual level.

Current CMOs:

The Assembly of Delegates

The Assembly of Delegates (AoD) is the primary decision-making body of the union. The union's constituent member organizations elect delegates from their own membership to represent them in the assembly, and representation is proportional. The assembly elects its own officer team to handle its business. The President is charged with presiding over meetings and acting as a liaison to entities external to the assembly, and the Vice-President assists the President in fulfilling these duties. The Secretary handles the assembly's documents and manages the union's membership rolls. The Treasurer safeguards the union's money and records financial affairs. The Sergeant-at-Arms ensures the assembly follows constitutional protocols.

Current Delegates:

The Executive Council

The Executive Council is the administrative body of the Union and handles day-to-day tasks and implements initiatives. Each of the union's constituent member organizations elects one councilor from their own membership to represent them on the council. The council elects its own officer team to handle its business. The Chair is charged with presiding over meetings and acting as a liaison to entities external to the council, and the Vice-Chair assists the Chair in fulfilling these duties. The Secretary handles the council's documents and meeting minutes. The Treasurer safeguards the funds distributed to the council for its use by the Assembly of Delegates.

Current Councilors:

Committees

The committees of the union are made up of members of the General Assembly and serve as specialized bodies meant to focus on specific tasks and work alongside the Assembly of Delegates and Executive Council to ensure the union maintains optimized operations.
